About the Centurions

The Centurions are a loosely confederated group of miniature wargamers based in the Minneapolis–St. Paul metropolitan area. United by a shared interest in tabletop miniature gaming, members of the group organize and run a wide variety of games and hobby projects throughout the Twin Cities.

Although the Centurions are intentionally informal and have no formal organizational structure, the group long ago selected Jim Fitzgerald as our Claudius for Life—a tongue-in-cheek title for the person who serves as our primary point of contact and helps coordinate many of our events.

Members of the Centurions regularly volunteer to organize and host miniature games. Most of the games we run are historical in nature, though science fiction and fantasy games occasionally make their way onto the table as well. The only real requirements for running a game with the group are simple: provide enough figures and materials for roughly six to ten players, and be comfortable enough with the rules to guide the game. If you are interested in hosting a game, please contact our Claudius, Jim Fitzgerald, for more information.

The Centurions typically host open games on the first, third, and any fifth Saturdays of each month at Source Comics & Games in Roseville, Minnesota. These sessions are open to anyone interested in trying miniature wargaming—no prior experience or personal miniatures are required. Visitors are always welcome to stop by, join a game, and see what the group is working on.

Working behind the scenes are the men we jokingly refer to as the “Praetorians”—the individuals who help keep things organized and running smoothly. These include Jeff Johnson, Joe Knight, and Terry Ollilia, whose efforts help make many Centurion events possible.
