Tentative Winter Schedule - Pt. 3

Ok, you win some and you lose some....

We've filled out the rest of the schedule until February.  The good news is that we have games for 11/17 and 1/5.  The bad news as of this posting is that we will lose 12/15 for a Source event.  With that in mind here is our new schedule.

Nov. 17th - 15mm Samurai using FoGR or 15mm SYW (depending.)
Dec. 1st - 15mm Regimental Fire & Fury.
Dec. 8th - ReCon and a monster SYW game using KK. More games to follow.
Dec. 15th - Cancelled.
Jan. 5th - 15mm Ancients using FoG.
Jan. 19th - 15mm Samurai using FoGR.

Elliott has once again offered to put on a 15mm Samurai game on 11/17, however, he was not sure if that would lead to a scheduling conflict.  Just in case, bring your SYW troops (which is a good idea on any game day.)  We'll see what happens.

Tentative Winter Schedule - Pt. 2

Well gang, Sherman was right.  This plan didn't survive the first 5 minutes...

Here is what the schedule is now shaping up to look like.
Nov. 3rd - 15mm Napoleonics using FoGN.
Nov. 17th -
Dec. 1st - 15mm Regimental Fire & Fury.
Dec. 8th - ReCon and a monster SYW game using KK. More games to follow.
Dec. 15th - 10mm TYW using FoGR.
Jan. 5th -
Jan. 19th - 15mm Samurai using FoGR.

All games, except the one on Dec. 8th, will be played at the Source Comics & Games.  They will start somewhere between 11:00am and noon.  As always, figures will be provided and all experience levels are welcome.  Also, players who have figures based for the period and game are encouraged to bring them.  The more, the merrier...

Hope to see you there!

Tentative Winter Schedule - Pt. 1

Hey gang,

It's time to look ahead and plan out what we are going to do for the next 3 months or so.  We need games for the Nov. - Jan. period now.  I've received the following offerings for the schedule:
Nov. 3rd - 15mm Napoleonics using FoGN.
Dec. 10th - ReCon and a monster SYW game using KK.  More games to follow.
Jan. 19th - 10mm Napoleonics using Napoleonic Command.

As you can see, this leaves a lot of space for games.  Contact me if you want to run something or let me know what you are interested in seeing us run in the future.  I'm hoping to organize a TYW game and a Regimental Fire & Fury game sometime in that schedule.

Spring Schedule Redux

Man, I just hate when I do that... Every year the Source has Free Comic Book Day on the first Saturday in May and there is never enough room for us to have a game. And, of course, this year is no exception. All of my neferious plans are coming to naught.

I am negotiating with a gaming group in Brookings, SD to come on over and put on a Napoleon's Battles game. They had offered to run Austerlitz in May and I had things lined up but then Free Comic Book Day intervened and we had to postpone. I'm looking to reschedule them for the first weekend in June but I haven't heard back from them yet. I'll keep you posted.

As you may be asking, no, I don't know when I'll reschedule the Roman game for. I'm thinking that we'll run that one on the third weekend in June but I have to talk to Tom about that first. Don't know if this will be another Civil War or what as I have not lined up an opponent for the Romans yet. We'll just have to see.

One other period we haven't done anything with yet is the TYW. Tom has volunteered to run a game at the next ReCon but I don't have any specifics as to the date yet. If nothing else, I will try to get one scheduled for July. Keep watching.

Joel Gregory - Miniature Collection

Many of you know Joel Gregory, he has decided to sell a large number of painted figures from his collection, including 25mm American Civil War and 25mm Napoleonic figures.

Joel's collection for the American Civil War includes a goodly number of figures mounted for Brother Against Brother and a fair number of stands both Union and Confederate that are 1 1/2" square with four figures.

For the Napoleonic period Joel is selling off a large number of Prussian Figures

Mounted:
16 stands of Calpe: 32 figures - $200.
30 stands of Connoisseur & Old Glory: 60 figures: $360.00
37 Mounted Command figures: $200.00

Infantry:
Calpe 57 stands: 228 figures - $684.00
Elite: 32 Stands: 128 figures - $384.00
Old Glory: 44 Stands: 176 figures - $528.00 (Landwehr)

Artillery: 8 Stands: $200.00
He would take $2500.00 for the entire set and would prefer to sell it as one.

Contact Joel Directly at Joel Gregory <miniatureships@gmail.com> with any questions.
He will be posting the figures on Ebay in the near future.

Spring Schedule

Hey gang,

Here it is, we've just run the second game of March and I haven't done anything with the schedule in a while. Time to line up some new games. Here's the offerings so far:

Saturday - Apr 7th
15mm SYW - Koenig Krieg
Wars of the Jumbled Alliances
11am Source Comics and Games

Saturday - Apr 21st
15mm ACW - Regimental Fire & Fury
11am Source Comics and Games

Saturday - May 5th
15mm Ancients - Field of Glory
Early Imperial Romans v. the World
11am Source Comics and Games

Saturday - May 19th
25mm SYW - Rules to be determined
Wars of the Jumbled Alliances on a Grand Scale
11am Source Comics and Games

For our next upcoming game I'll be running another in our series of Wars of the Jumbled Alliances. We have some new players and at least one new state, the Sardinians, that will be making their appearance on the field of battle. After that, Doug Martin will be running another Regimental Fire & Fury game for the second game of April. The first game of RF&F was very entertaining and this next one should be too.

The first game of May will be another Early Imperial Roman game using Osprey's Field of Glory rules and the opponent is yet to be determined. Tom Zwirn and I will be running the Ancients game. The second game of May will be an experimental SYW game in 25s to be run by Jeff Johnson. Jeff's game should be a hoot but it has a limited amount of positions available, 8 player max right now, so be there early for the game. If there is room available we may try to run a 15mm SYW game concurrent with Jeff's.

Just a couple of notes about the games, all experience levels are welcome and all figures are provided, though we welcome people who bring their own figures. These games will also be played at the new Source, so I am not sure what the playing space is going to be like. I know that the venerable sand table will be moved over to the new location soon though.

All these games will be fun and I hope to see you there!

ReCon, March 3rd

Hey gang,

Just a correction. Tom says the game he will run at ReCon will be SYW using Koenig Krieg. He would like everyone to bring their troops and he will be putting on a Wars of the Jumbled Alliances scenario. Tom will be bringing his Prussians and Russians for those who do not have troops. It'll be a great time so I hope you can make it.

March 17th Game

Hey folks,

Doug Martin has graciously volunteered to put on the March 17th game. The game will be a 15mm WWII battle between the Germans and Brits in the ETO. The rules are Battlefront and the figures will all be provided. Should be a great time!

Winter 2012 Schedule

Hey gang,

As we head into February our schedule will be getting really wild. We will be playing our first weekend game in February at the Source and then we will be taking our show on the road.

The third weekend we will be putting on a number of games at the Con of the North in conjunction with the Source. This is a cool con so c'mon by. We'll be playing some SYW, Napoleonics, and a whole lot more.

Next, the first Saturday in March is the next ReCon. The plan is to put on a game or two there too. Tom wants a TYW rematch, so be there. It's close and fun and you get a chance to see what others in the area are up to.

We'll be heading back to the Source on the third Saturday of March. The games for the third weekend in March and the first weekend in April have not been decided yet, so let me know if there is something you want to run or see run on those dates. Doug Martin will be running another game of Regimental Fire & Fury on the third Saturday of April.

February Schedule and Beyond

Hey folks,

Happy New Year! It is already 2012 and we have many exciting things planned for this year. First, it is the 200th anniversary of Napoleon's invasion of Russia. Some of the gang are working on a refight of the Battle of Moskva/Borodino using Napoleon's Battles. We will be previewing the game at Con of the North and looking at a bigger game, allowing for some of the strategic options discussed by historians, for later this summer. Stay tuned for that.

In addition, Chris Combs and I will be putting the final touches on our Battle of Warburg game which will also demo at CotN in February. All of the right troops should be available for this demo and, if all goes well, Chris and I plan to bring it to the SYW Con in March to represent the club. Wish us luck.

And finally, the Source is planning to relocate in February to their new location opposite Har Mar Mall on Snelling. They are going into the space next to Eric's Bike Shop. This location offers more retail space for the store and more parking, but it is playing hobb with our gaming schedule. I am reliably informed that there will be gaming space for us on Jan. 21st, though where is still a question. Also, our game on Feb. 4th will still be going on so come and see LaSalle demonstrated. Bruce Peglow has volunteered to put on the game and provide the figures. Should be a good time! Add the following to your calendar:

Saturday - Feb 4th
15mm Napoleonics - LaSalle
Peninsular Campaign
French v. British & Allies
11am Source Comics and Games

The weekend of Feb 17th - 19th is Con of the North. We have several games scheduled for that convention and hope to see you there. The list of games is as follows:

25mm ACW using Brother Against Brother
15mm SYW using Koenig Krieg, the Battle of Warburg
15mm Napoleonics using Napoleon's Battles, Battle of Moskva/Borodino
15mm SYW using Koenig Krieg, Wars of the Jumbled Alliances
25mm Napoleonics using Horse, Musket, & Gun

We are always looking for new games and people to run them. Please contact me if you are interested in a particular period and/or want to run a game.
