Report from South Bend

POSTED on behalf of Jeff Knudsen.

I just got back from the annual convention of the Seven Years War Association, where I ran a naval scenario set on Lake Champlain in 1776. Between the quality of the events at this gathering, the good company of the scholars and gentlemen in attendance, the engaging and thought-provoking lecture by the eminent Dr. Dennis Showalter, and the fine food and impressive array of single-malts next door at the Fiddler's Hearth, it was indeed a weekend to remember. Many thanks to Randy Frye, convention director, for his hard work and dedication, and congratulations to Tod Kershner and Dale Wood on the Best Event award, which earns them a well-deserved place on the Pour le Merite trophy.

There are three sets of pictures on my Flickr page here:

For those who are interested in naval warfare on the Great Lakes, or indeed naval warfare during the Age of Sail in general, you can download the set of rules used in my game ("Away, Boarders!") and a free sample of the cardstock model ships at my new website:

It's a little bare-bones so far, but there's a few interesting items there and I'll be adding more regularly.

Regards,

Jeff
