May Schedule

First, our normal game on the 7th will not be happening at the Source due to their Free Comic Book Day event. Free Comic Book Day happens on the first Saturday in May every year and I forget about it every year. Jeff Johnson wanted to put on a game that day and I have not heard if there will be a different venue for it yet. I will keep you informed.

Second, we will be playing 10mm TYW on the 21st. Due to the amount of troops that are in the works for the game it is impractical to try and run another game using Forlorn Hope at this time. So, given the success of the Field of Glory game on Apr. 18th, I am going to try using the FoG Renaissance rules for the game on the 21st. We had a lot of success with people picking up the rules very quickly for the Roman Civil War game and I am hoping that we will have the same success with the TYW period. Tom and I will be exploring options for the game as the TYW project has an odd basing system that will affect how the game is played.

Apr. 16th Game

This game will be our attempt at restarting Ancients for the group.

Tom Zwirn is putting the finishing touches on his 69 AD Roman Civil War plan and wants to put a game on the table this spring. This is the Year of the Four Emperors when civil war tears the Roman world apart and Vespasian would restore order. Tom has been working on several Principate period armies and will be using them to put on the game.

As always all experience levels are welcome and all figures will be provided. If you want to provide your own figures for the game Tom asks that you keep them to the period around 69 AD and the Roman Empire.

Upcoming Outing - February 18th & 19th

The next Centurions outing will occur on the normal weekend but we will be changing the venue at the request of the people at the Source. We were asked if we would mind putting on a couple of games at Con of the North and I told the Source people that I'd put on a couple of games that weekend. I realize that there will be a cost to these games, the entrance fee, but I hope that you will show up for one or both games.

Game #1. I will be putting on a 15mm Napoleonics game using Napoleon's Battles. I'm still working on the sides but the game will begin setup around 3:00 pm and I don't expect it to last more than four hours. All experience levels will be welcome and all figures will be provided.

Game #2. Tom Zwirn and I will be putting on a 15mm Seven Years War game using Koenig Krieg. This will be an Austrian v. Prussian game though you are welcome to show up with whatever troops you have, we'll find room for you. This game will begin setup around 10:00 am will last until we are done.

Hope to see you there. For more information about the con, see their website: http://www.conofthenorth.org

Projects for 2011

A little heads up on the projects that people are discussing, painting figures for, and planning on for 2011.

10mm Forlorn Hope/Other Thirty Years War
Tom Zwirn is the driving force behind this project, and the painting machine is well at work.

25mm Drums of War along the Mohawk [AKA Drums] for the French and Indian War
Over the years I have collected and painted a few figures for this project and finally I have enough figures to get a game started. In conjunction with Brent Olson we will be running a game in January to see what everyone’s level of interest is.

25mm Rank and File American Civil War
As we quickly approach the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War this is another project that I am pushing. Our goal is to start fairly small with players pushing a Brigade of Infantry and associated Artillery and working our ways up into players commanding Multiple Brigades.
We plan on doing a minor game in either February or March and maybe a larger game in July to commemorate the First Battle of Bull Run.

A couple of projects that it wouldn't take a whole lot of effort to get off the ground, but someone needs to take charge and make it happen.

15mm Fields of Glory - Punic Wars.
Fitz has a Carthaginian Army, Joe Knight has a Seleucid Army, I have most of Macedonian Successor Army (actually make up to be determined). The real push would be made if some painted up and pushed a Mid-Republican Roman Army.

Continuing projects and Games
15mm Koenig Krieg 2nd Edition War of Austrian Succession and the Seven Years War
10mm Napoleonic Command Napoleonic Wars
15mm Napoleon’s Battles Napoleonic Wars
25mm Horse Musket and Gun 1813 Campaigns of the Napoleonic Wars
15mm Spearhead World War II

Projects on the periphery that may make a special appearance
25mm Might of Arms First Crusade
25mm Wilderness WarsAmerican War of Independence
15mm Rally Round the Flag / Rifle Wars American Civil War
Mirco Rules to be Determined World War II Pacific Naval
15mm Broadsword World War II Pacific Theater
Micro Modern Spearhead Modern Micro Armor

Of course there are a number of other projects that players have either started painting figures for or talked about that aren’t in playable condition at the moment, so if you are interested in something come on down to one of our game days and talk with us.

Some Planned or tentatively planned events:
The Centurions are looking to partner with SPI [St. Paul Irregulars] at doing a large 15mm KK game day using some sort of Campaign / Multi-Table Battle sometime late winter/spring time frame. If you have any ideas or “the what not” please let me know (The other other Jeff).

As usual a number of Centurions will be attending the Seven Year's War Convention in South Bend Indiana over March 25th and 26th. http://www.sywconvention.com/ If you are interested in attending please talk with Claudius, I mean Fitz. Currently we are discussing running the Battle of Grocka between the Austrian Empire and Ottoman Empire in 1739 using 2nd Edition KK.
I am pretty sure there will be a Game of BAR also occurring at the Con.

In May I will running a 25mm Napoleonic Game on some what a large scale, using Horse Musket and Gun. This of course is my Birthday Game.

In July I will be running a 25mm ACW game to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the First Battle of Bull Run (Manassas).

Upcoming Game - Oct 16th

TURKENKRIEG!

Due to scheduling conflicts with several members I had to scale back the scope of the game I wanted to run on Saturday. I decided that it would be easiest to throw on a small game of KK instead of trying to run a game of the largest battle in the Peninsular period of the Napoleonic Wars.

And then I was assailed by the Grand Turk's least favorite son-in-law who declared that the Turks were on the move north to invade the Hereditary Lands yet again...

So the game this Saturday is going to be a Turkish grudge match with the Austrians in 15mm using Koenig Krieg. All the specifics for the game are the same, noon start @ the Source. Bring figures if you have them, yada, yada, yada...

Sorry for the late notice and I hope to see you there.
